As we start expanding the type of content we roll out, we wanted to bring interesting folks in the Web3 space to light through our People Stories. We recently caught up with BAYC fam, the big ape; Xeer (@Xeer) as we gear up for the excitement around Apefest 2024 in Lisbon.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I'm based in Singapore and have a background in both web2 and web3 realms. I've held leadership roles in global organizations across various continents, and my journey in the crypto space began in 2013. Over the years, I've become deeply involved in the NFT community, particularly within the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) community. I'm also the founder of the Bored Ape Singapore Club and Xeerfam, both of which aim to foster connections and collaboration among apes globally.

How and when did you first come about crypto?
My introduction to crypto happened in 2013 when I was an avid gamer and began mining Bitcoin with my gaming rig after raiding dungeons in World of Warcraft. Since then, my interest in crypto has grown steadily, leading me to explore various aspects of the space, including NFTs and decentralized finance (DeFi).

What was the greatest obstacle personally when getting into crypto?
The greatest obstacle I faced personally when getting into crypto was overcoming the initial skepticism and uncertainty surrounding the technology and its potential. However, as I delved deeper into the space and witnessed its transformative power, my confidence grew, and I became increasingly committed to exploring its possibilities.

What is in your bag and what kept you holding on to your bag?
In my crypto bag, you'll find a diverse portfolio of NFTs across chains, including Bored Apes, Tensorians, Quantum Cats and other collectibles. What kept me holding onto my bag is the strong sense of community and shared vision among fellow apes. The connections forged within the community, as well as the potential for collaboration, have been instrumental in my decision to hold onto my assets.

Any cool innovations in Web3 that’s caught your eye?
One cool innovation in Web3 that has caught my eye is the emergence of 404s. 404s represent a new paradigm of both fungible and non-fungible tokens, enabling liquidity through both options. I'm excited to see how 404 will continue to evolve and reshape the landscape of NFT ownership.

Any tips for folks considering getting into crypto as traders or investors?
For folks considering getting into crypto as traders or investors, my advice would be to start by educating yourself about the technology and market dynamics. Take the time to research different projects and understand their underlying value propositions. Additionally, be prepared for volatility and risk, and only invest what you can afford to lose. Finally, don't underestimate the power of community; connecting with like-minded individuals can provide valuable insights and support along your crypto journey.

Anything else you'd like to share or highlight?
In closing, I'd like to express my gratitude to the Bored Ape Singapore Club, Xeerfam, and the global ape community for their unwavering support and camaraderie. Together, we have the opportunity to shape the future of the NFT space and build a vibrant and inclusive ecosystem. Last but not least, thanks Wush for the feature!
